Purpose
Through this event, we hope to raise awareness about the litter on our shoreline through engaging the community in a creative and engaging way as well as to promote the idea of recycling. The way of making a piece of art with collected garbage will not only ameliorate the environmental condition of the beach, but also show that everything can be reused to create something meaningful. Seeing an immense amount of garbage in the pieces of art that are thrown randomly in a public place materialize before our eyes will definitely alert our community and allow us to realize how we need to protect our shorelines. Our ultimate goal is to allow people to appreciate the beach without any garbage, and recognize how clean the shorelines could be.
Other Goals
Some smaller, but just as important, goals will be to encourage creativity by offering unfamiliar mediums to see where the participants’ imaginations take them! By allowing the participants this opportunity, we’ll be able to create not only treasured pieces of art but also treasurable memories about the time everyone stepped out of their comfort zone to create art pieces. There will also be plenty of opportunities to meet new people and create bonds that will last a life time! As we all come from different places, this event is an opportunity to make new friendships or strengthen old ones so we highly suggest you to participate!
