Artist #1: Alini GARCIA

I'm Alini, an emerging abstract artist from Brazil currently living and creating in Vancouver, Canada. At 32, I share my life with my husband and two cats. Painting became a part of my life last year when I decided to give it a try. After experimenting with different styles, I found that abstract art truly resonates with me!

My art is all about motion and vivid colors, reflecting my personal stories and emotions. I create vibrant compositions that focus on breaking cultural barriers and inviting introspection. Each brushstroke takes me on a transformative journey of self-discovery.

Since last year, a lot has been happening in my artistic journey! I've had the privilege of participating in several group shows, connecting with fellow artists, and gaining insights into the art world. Currently, I'm immersed in a few significant projects. The first one is the Silk Purse Exhibition, a group exhibition scheduled for February next year. It provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase my art alongside amazing artists. Also, I'm excited to share that I was selected by Vancouver Civic Theatres to exhibit my art at the Annex Theatre, in downtown. This venue hosts various local non-profit events, and I'll be showcasing my work in the lobby from May to August 2024. I'm currently in the process of finalizing the pieces for this exhibition. Last but certainly not least, I'm extremely proud and excited about my upcoming first solo show scheduled for March 2024. The process of working on these pieces has been both challenging and fulfilling, and I can't wait to share the final results!

In my opinion, in able to succeed in the art world, paint as much as you can and stay true to yourself. Explore various mediums, techniques, and styles to find what you like to do. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, and don't be afraid to start!

I would say the most important is networking! It is crucial in the art world. Connect with other artists, attend events, and share your work online. Building a supportive community can provide amazing opportunities. And if you want to start showcasing your work, apply to open calls. Even if you think you don't have enough pieces yet…  And, most importantly, enjoy the journey!”
